A long tradition of servicing customer's needs

Tom O'Mahony (1913-2000) founded TJ O'Mahony and Sons Ltd in Inchicore in 1958, setting up a small sawmill, which moved to Ballymount in Southwest Dublin in 1959.

In 1979, Tom Snr retired as managing director, and was replaced by his sons Tom Jnr, Edward, and Donal who took the company into its next phase. In 1982 the company, with a reputation as both a saw-miller and importer of timber from as far afield as Canada and Russia entered the building supplies market. The company prospered, eventually moving to its current site on Ballymount Cross in 1989.

In 2005 the company transformed the site at Ballymount, creating both a retail park and brand new retail centre and warehousing.

In 2007, TJ O'Mahony and Sons Ltd was bought by the Moritz Group, a company with a long history in the Irish construction industry. Moritz engaged in a program of reinvestment in the company, including the re-branding of the company as TJ O'Mahony, the name by which it is most commonly known today.
